Galveston Pirate coach Brendan Keyes expects his players to be well-rounded. While by night, the team is honing its fundamental soccer skills, Keyes introduces his players to the fundamentals of community service by day.
Today, Holy Family Catholic School in Galveston was the lucky beneficiary of the team’s work. Keyes and his Pirate SC crew invaded the school to host a special clinic teaching students the fundamentals of the game—Pirate style.
“Our efforts focus on teaching the basic skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting,” Keyes said. “Once the students have those down, my guys join in and we open it up for some fun game time.”
The team concludes the camp experience with a picture and autograph session. Pirate SC likes to extend a helping hand to schools like Holy Family Catholic at least once per week. Keyes and his players give all Galveston schools free game tickets as well. Find out more!
